I constantly get this question, “what is the best diet?” Well, I wish it was a simple answer but it really comes down to the individual. While there are numerous diets around, there are several factors to consider when choosing the best one for yourself— genetics, lifestyle, health issues and health goals. The idea behind metabolic typing, bioindividual nutrition and nutritional typing is that everyone is different and can’t follow the same diet.
I work with clients on a variety of diets, including gluten-free, dairy-free, Paleo, Low-carb, vegetarian, vegan, as well as several more strict and health-focused diets such as the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and low FODMAP diet. The main aspect all of these diets have in common is that they are diets filled with whole, nutritious foods.
To discover the best diet for you, we would discuss a few questions first.
- Do you have any current health issues? (i.e. poor digestion or skin concerns)
- What are your health goals? (i.e. weight loss or increased energy)
- Do you have any food allergies or sensitivities? (i.e. gluten, dairy, soy, eggs)
- On a scale 1-10, what is your level of commitment towards changing your diet?
Starting with these simple questions helps guide me to discover the best nutrition plan for you as an individual.
